Jesus prayed that we may all be one and by this the world would know he was the Christ. The prophet Amos said, “can two walk together except they be agreed?” and the bible says, “a doubled folded card is not easy broken and a house divided against itself cannot stand”. This even applies in the animal kingdom, the Belgian horse can pull around two thousand pounds, but two can pull between fourteen and seventeen thousand pounds. Their strength shows the power of unity. Be Blessed
Have you ever been in any of the following situations: everyone is acknowledged except you, being treated as though you didn’t exist, not being chosen to be on the team or the last one chosen, being snubbed because of your outer appearance or made to feel as if no one cared? For some people, similar feelings happen around the holidays; it’s called depression. But believe it or not and contrary to popular belief, depression and suicides are much lower during the holidays because our interactions are with people who have a better or more festive attitude; even grumpy folks grin during the holidays
This why Christ was born, to make life better for all mankind, so let us try and do the same. We all have our various traditions but try to include others who would really appreciate your kindness. I have my wife to thank for recommending years ago that we stop exchanging gifts since all our kids and grandkids were grown (except one). We decided to have a Christmas Eve dinner and invite others who might not have anyone or limited family or friends with whom to share Christmas. We still do this as a part of our Christmas tradition and the fellowship, meals and games are rewarding to all who attend. Just to be able to bless someone is an awesome feeling, but the joy you receive in return is the greatest gift of all. In addition to the wonderful memories we make, it reminds us the reason Christ came was to share His love.
Let’s face it, how many of us remember or truly value what we received for Christmas last year Did you really need another shirt, pair of socks, tie, perfume, shoes or that ugly Christmas sweater? It is truly much better to give than to receive, so why not give someone one of the greatest gifts you have, your presence. Isn’t this what God did? He gave us the gift of His presence when He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ. Be Blessed.
